At Personal Fears we produce our jewelry out of the highest grade stainless steel. Why stainless steel? Because we wanted to use a metal that's built to last. No rust, no tarnishing, no green skin and no irritation. Steel is an alloy of iron and is known for being built tough and having a remarkable resistance to scratches, dents and corrosion. Another element present in the the alloy is chromium, which forms a protective layer of chromium oxide on the surface of the steel when exposed to air preventing rust, discoloration, and tarnish. Stainless steel does not contain harmful metals such as copper that react with sweat to cause skin irritations like green skin. Steel is also non porous so it won't trap bacteria which can lead to further infection and irritation. Honestly Stainless Steel is just better, it's durable, hypoallergenic, and our pieces will last a life time.
